A Long Journey From Nantes To Harlem

These are exciting times for huge Beirut junkies! Ok, let me make a short introduction before telling you the news. I save the best for last, thus don't be impatient!

More than two-and-a-half years ago I couldn't help falling victim to the charms of Nantes. And what can I say that hasn't already been said 'bout this song? I always get so entranced while listening it on loop that I lose myself and escape reality, soaking it all in for hours. I'm definitely in love with Zach Condon's voice. Perhaps it's too deep for someone so young (he's only 25) but he's pretty much stuck with his appealing vocals.

Let's role right along with what will probably turn out to be the best song to make an appearance all week/month/year/decade. And it's just that TODAY Beirut releases the first single titled East Harlem, in the run-up to the upcoming full-length album, The Rip Tide, due out August 30. The track, which is backed with another one called Goshen, will be officially out on mp3 next June 14.

New Beirut album coming soon! A sentence I will never tire of hearing, especially if all the songs are as gorgeous as East Harlem, a gem which Zach wrote when he was only seventeen. In fact, this tune has been tried out live for years (as you can see in the video below), becoming mastered into a single and now released in HQ.

Take a listen now to the improved edition which adds piano to the mix. East Harlem sounds, without a doubt,  better here than ever!

Beirut has also been playing Goshen for awhile in concerts, even though the mastered version is not available yet. While we keep an eye out for it to actually arrive, we can get an idea of what it will be like by checking out the following video. You'll love this one too!
