Jumping right into this little gem of a chick that I happened upon last night called Lana Del Rey (aka Lizzy Grant). Wooow! I was instantly charmed by this simple, playful music and charming performance of the piano/voice due. Seriously, Video Games melody is completely catchy and the beats also snag. And what to say 'bout her singing? It's by turns high and girly or low and husky (she's a former jazz singer), but always awe inspiring!
This 24-year-old New Yorker and sometime London resident crafts a distinct sound that is best described as cinematic dark pop. All her clips contain fragments from classic movies, home videos and documentaries interspersed with close-ups of her face as some sort of Lolita. In short, low-budget, chaotic and brooding motion pictures wrapped in smoky and sultry overtones that may seem dodgy at first but will definitely captivate you.
